ShockMed is a non-invasive treatment for musculoskeletal complaints.
The most common applications are:
physiotherapy, orthopaedics and sports medicine.
Indications: shoulder pain, epicondylitis, low back pain syndrome, Achilles tendon pain, hip and trigger points.
Shock waves are acoustic waves that deliver large amounts of energy through the tissues and radiate throughout the body until they reach the painful area.
Shock waves are characterised by rapid changes in pressure, high amplitude and non-periodicity.
The amount of energy transferred to the tissue is much greater than the energy produced by ultrasound.
Our body responds to the shock waves that pass through it by increasing metabolic activity in the treated area and helping to reduce inflammation caused by the local release of endorphins, which have an analgesic effect, thus stimulating the healing process.
Our devices emit a radial (ballistic) shockwave, as the wave is generated by a special pistol-shaped probe with a metal cap sealing the end of the tube; a steel ball is fired into the cap with compressed air (maximum pressure 5 bar). This generates a shock wave which propagates radially through the skin and the underlying tissue layer.

EME's PHYSIO division designs and manufactures physiotherapy, rehabilitation and sports rehabilitation devices.
