Electrotherapy
In physiotherapy, electrotherapy applications are used to stimulate denervated muscles and thereby reduce hypotrophy caused by muscle inactivity. Electrotherapy can also be used to maintain muscle trophism in denervated or only partially innervated muscles. Of course, normally innervated muscles can also be trained with EMS treatments.

Electric current has motor, thermal, analgesic, chemical and trophic effects on body tissues. The Combimed 2200 offers a total of 26 different low and medium frequency waveforms, which the user can use on one channel or two channels, independently or synchronised.

The exponential current is suitable, for example, for peripheral paralysis and can delay/prevent atrophy following nerve injury.

Ultrasound therapy information
Electrotherapy alone is a very effective form of therapy for pain relief. However, ultrasound applications offer an effective adjunct. EME Physio has therefore combined both forms of therapy in the Combimed 2200, so that ultrasound can be used primarily for pain relief.

The most important applications of ultrasound therapy are in the treatment of neuropathy, sciatica and periarthritis. The specific effects induced by ultrasound (causing the treated tissue to vibrate, generating thermal and mechanical effects) produce a massage-like warming effect.

The Combimed 2200 is equipped with a 1/3 MHz multi-frequency treatment head, which allows the user to adapt the depth of penetration into the tissue to the specific treatment. The 1 MHz frequency allows penetration up to 3 cm deep into tissue, the 3 MHz frequency allows a penetration depth of 1 cm.
