A clear head and wellbeing

Frequent headaches, anxiety and stress.

CEFALY can change your life. With its pleasant

stimulative effect, it inhibits pain, arrests

headaches, calms anxiety and soothes stress.

A few sessions a week are all that’s needed

to restore your wellbeing, clear your head and

alleviate stress.

Indications

• Anterior tension headaches

• Migraines with or without aura

• Treatment of stress and anxiety

• Cluster headache

• Ophthalmic shingles

• Frontal sinusitis (symptomatic treatment)

• Trigeminal neuralgia affecting the first branch of the trigeminal nerve (Willis ophthalmic nerve).

Very recently external cranial neurostimulation has been developed. The technical progresses consist in having a practical and comfortable device. Before the technique wasn’t used because it was painful and complicate. STX-Med has made significant progresses in electronic and devices simple to use. The first device available is intended for supra orbital neurostimulation and so-called CEFALY® The company is currently doing researches about devices for other location of neurostimulation as occipital and neck. Therefore Cefaly technique is external neurostimulation but very similar to implanted neurostimulators: similar electrical parameters leading to same basic action of triggering action potentials on nerves at same frequency.

ECG gels & sprays

Why use an EEG paste in neurological examinations?

In EEG (electroencephalography) and EMG (electromyography) studies, electrical activity is measured in the brain (for EEG) or in the muscles (for EMG). The use of EEG paste plays an important role in these studies for the following reasons:

1. **Improved electrical conductivity:** EEG gel helps to improve the electrical conductivity between the skin and the electrodes. This allows better contact of the electrodes with the skin, which increases the sensitivity of the sensing and the quality of the signals obtained.

2. **Reduces noise:** EEG paste helps to reduce "noise" and interference caused by ambient electrical signals, such as mains noise or other devices. This is important for accurate and reliable signal recording.

3. **More stable fixation:** EEG paste helps to keep electrodes more stable against the skin, minimising signal interference caused by movement or environmental factors.

4. **Comfort:** EEG paste is generally a comfortable material that does not cause irritation or discomfort to the patient, which is important during prolonged studies.

Overall, the use of EEG gel improves the quality, reliability and comfort of EEG and EMG studies.

Why is it necessary to use ekg gel for ekg tests?

The use of ECG (electrocardiogram) gel plays an important role in ECG tests and is justified for a number of reasons:

1.**Improving electrical conduction:** ECG gel is used to improve electrical conduction between the skin and the electrodes. As a result, the improved contact of the electrodes with the skin surface increases the sensitivity of the sensing and improves the quality of the signals obtained.

2. **Reduces noise:** ECG gel can help reduce noise and interference caused by ambient electrical signals, such as mains noise or other electrical devices. This is important for recording accurate and reliable ECG signals.

3. **More stable fixation:** ECG gel helps to keep the electrodes more stable against the skin, minimising signal interference caused by movement or other external factors.

4. **Comfort:** ECG gel does not usually cause irritation or discomfort to the patient, even during prolonged examinations.

5. **Skin protection:** ECG gel forms a layer on the skin, which helps protect it from potential irritation or injury caused by direct contact with the electrodes.

6. **Optimises ECG signal quality:** ECG gel helps to secure the electrodes in the correct position and optimise the quality of the ECG signal, which is important for accurate diagnosis and treatment.

Overall: the use of ECG gel is essential for ECG studies as it improves electrode sensitivity and reduces signal interference, allowing for more accurate and reliable ECG results.

Is it possible to use plain water or e.g. skin disinfectant instead of ECG gel?

A real alternative to ECG gel for ECG tests may be the use of water or skin disinfectants in certain circumstances. However, it is important to understand that these alternatives do not provide the same quality and accuracy as ECG gel.

1. **Use of water:** The use of clean water to improve electrical conductivity may be acceptable in some cases, especially if ECG gel is not available. However, water is generally not as effective as ECG gel in reducing signal noise and disturbance and does not provide the same stable electrode contact.

2. **Use of skin disinfectants:** Before using certain skin disinfectants, the ECG electrodes must be applied correctly to prevent skin disinfectants from getting trapped under the electrodes. In addition, residues of some skin disinfectants may interfere with the electrical contact between the electrodes and the skin.

ECG gel remains the most appropriate choice for ECG studies as it is specifically designed to minimise signal interference, ensure optimal sensitivity of the electrodes and achieve more accurate results. However, if ECG gel is not available and there is no other choice, water or skin disinfectants may be acceptable alternatives in some cases, although their efficacy and reliability will not be the same as for ECG gel.
