The significance of the "Barrier System" is that it is not necessary to change the filter. (The valve opens during sterilisation to allow the steam to escape.)
The perforated lower part allows a much faster sterilisation process (half the time of the non-perforated one).
All boxes are autoclavable at 134°C.
